Championship Information
ENTRY PROCESS
All entries for the Championship Proper, including returned invitations, must be received by the entry deadline of 5:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time on Friday, May 22, 2009 (Local Qualifying deadline is May 15, 2009). For those applying for entry into the Championship Proper Rounds or the Local Qualifying Rounds, the appropriate application must be completely executed and submitted by mail prior to the deadline. Entry fees must accompany submitted applications. Local Qualifying is available to North and South Carolina residents ONLY.
LOCAL QUALIFYING
Local qualifying will be held at Pinehurst No. 7, Monday, June 8. Local qualifying is required for North and South Carolina residents that are otherwise not exempt to compete. For detailed exemption criteria, please click HERE. For those applying for Local Qualilfying, please submit only the Local Qualifying Application. Contestants advancing through qualifying will be invited to compete in the Championship Proper Rounds.
FORMAT
Six rounds of match play will determine the Champion. The defending Champion is exempt from qualifying and will take the number one seed in match play. The top 30 ranked accepted invitees or applicants will be exempt into match play. Those players exempt from qualifying will take match play seeds 2 through 30 based on their ranking. The remaining thirty-four seeds will be determined through the 18-hole qualifier to complete the 64-player match play field. All play will be on Pinehurst No. 2.
CHAMPIONSHIP REGISTRATION
Championship registration will take place Monday, June 29 from 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, in the Fairway Room of the Members Club. Each contestant MUST register in person. No registration will be accepted by phone. Please make every attempt to register prior to playing practice rounds. Failure to register will result in disqualification from the Championship.
PRACTICE ROUNDS AND RANGE USAGE
The official practice round for the Championship is Monday, June 29 on Pinehurst No. 2. For practice round starting times, please contact the Pinehurst Starting Tower at 910-295-3186 or 1-800-795-4653 (choose option 6) on or after Wednesday, June 24, after 10:00 AM. Indicate you are a North & South contestant. A limited number of additional practice times will be available on the afternoon of Sunday, June 28, and can be booked at the same time official practice rounds are made. Practice rounds are for contestants only. Practice balls will be complimentary prior to and following practice rounds and Championship rounds beginning Sunday, June 28.
PRIVATE HOUSING
Private Housing will be available to a limited number of contestants. Priority will be given to exempt and invited contestants. If space remains, additional housing requests will be accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis. Private Housing requests should be submitted by email following the close of entries. Private Housing is not guaranteed. More information can be obtained by emailing PinehurstPrivateHousing@nc.rr.com.
CLUB STORAGE
Club storage is available and complimentary for all contestants during the Championship.
