APPLICATION

ELIGIBILITY
Entries are open to male amateur golfers who have a handicap index of 5.0 or less. All applicants must be born male and conform to the "USGA Rules of Amateur Status"
FORMAT
Three rounds of stroke play followed by four rounds of match play will determine the Champion. The 132 player field will be cut to the low 60 and ties following the second round. The final 60 players and ties will compete for the 16 player match play field and medalist honors. All stroke play rounds will be contested on Pinehurst No. 8. The top 16 players who qualify for match play will compete on Pinehurst No. 2 playing two rounds a day until our champion is determined.
ENTRY PROCESS
All applications, including returned invitations, must be received by the Tournament Office staff by the entry deadline of 5:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time on Tuesday, May 21, 2013. Entry fees must accompany submitted applications. ABSOLUTELY NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED. Applicants will fall into one of two categories (Championship Exempt, Championship Non-Exempt.)
Entry Fee: $225. Full refunds will be made for cancellation prior to the close of entries. Cancellations made after the closing date will be refunded less a $30 cancellation fee. No refund will be given if cancellation occurs within 7 days of the first round.
INVITATION / APPLICATION PROCESS
Invitations (Championship Exempt)
- Players meeting our exemption criteria will be invited to compete. Exemption Criteria
- Players meeting exemption criteria will be accepted upon receipt of invitation or application.
- Players meeting these criteria will be guaranteed acceptance unless more than 132 exempt players accept invitations to compete. If this occurs, players will be granted entry into the Championship based on their highest level of exemption status. (C1 precedes C2 so on and so forth).
Applications (Championship Non-Exempt)
- Players not meeting exemption criteria may formally apply via application.
- All decisions are at the discretion of the tournament committee and all decisions are final.
At Close of Entries
- Invitations and applications are received, and processed. The field is determined based off of the number of exempt players and selecting the best non-exempt players to complete the 132 player field.
- All players not accepted into the Championship will be issued a letter of regret.
CHAMPIONSHIP REGISTRATION
Championship registration will take place on Monday, July 1, from 9:00 AM-4:00 PM. Registration will be located in the Pinehurst Members Club. Each contestant MUST register in person. Please make every attempt to register prior to playing practice rounds. **Failure to register without notification to the Tournament Office may result in the player forfeiting their spot in the event.**
PRACTICE ROUNDS / RANGE USAGE
The official practice round is Monday July 1, on Pinehurst No. 4. For practice round starting times, please contact the Pinehurst Starting Tower at 910-295-3186 or 1-800-795-4653 (choose option 6) on or after Wednesday, June 26, after 10:00 AM. Indicate you are a North & South contestant. Practice rounds are for contestants only. Practice balls will be complimentary prior to and following practice rounds and Championship rounds beginning Sunday, June 30, 2013 (some restrictions may apply). Those contestants who qualify for the match play portion of the championship will be able to practice on Pinehurst No. 2 on the afternoon of July 5th.
PRIVATE HOUSING
Private Housing is an option available to contestants to help reduce total tournament costs. While private housing is not guaranteed, we do our best to accommodate all players who submit their Private Housing Request form by May 30th. Priority will be given to exempt/invited contestants. Following acceptance to the tournament, players will be matched up with host families based on the information provided on the form.

CLUB STORAGE
Club storage is available and complimentary for all contestants during the Championship. All bags should be clearly tagged with the player's North & South bag tag (issued at registration).
PLAYER DINNER
The player's dinner is Monday, July 1, at 6:30 PM in the Main Dining Room of the Pinehurst Member's Club. ALL PLAYERS ARE EXPECTED TO ATTEND. Guests are welcome, and may purchase guest tickets at player registration. Please do not send money in advance for guest tickets. Business attire (coat OR tie) for men is requested for the player dinner (no shorts or jeans). Women should wear appropriate corresponding business attire (dress, skirt or dress slacks-no shorts or jeans).
CADDIES / CARTS
Carts are available for practice rounds ONLY, otherwise players may carry their own bag, bring a caddie, or hire a Pinehurst Caddie. Pull or push carts are not permitted per club policy. Caddies will be REQUIRED for all match play rounds.
Those caddies not employed by Caddie Master Enterprises must register with the Caddie Master. There will be a $40 uniform deposit for caddies not employed by Caddie Master Enterprises. To make arrangements for a Pinehurst caddie please contact the Caddie Master (phone 910-235-8149 or pinehurst@caddiemaster.org) at least one week in advance. Bags fees are $50 per round plus gratuity ($35+ recommended depending on services.)
