ELIGIBILITY
Eligibility is through invitation and application only. The Committee reserves the right to invite amateurs of national and international reputation to participate. Any and all additional entries received by the entry deadline are reviewed by the committee and considered according to National Ranking, Competitive Record and accomplishments in Tournaments. All applicants must conform to the "USGA Rules of Amateur Status."
In the Men's Open Division, applicants must have reached 55 years of age by Tuesday, August 21, 2012 to be eligible for competition. All applicants must have a handicap index of 8.4 or less.
In the Men's Super Senior Division, applicants must have reached 65 years of age by Tuesday, August 21, 2012 to be eligible for competition. All applicants must have a handicap index 10.4 or less.
In the Women's Open Division, applicants must have reached 50 years of age by Tuesday, August 21, 2012 to be eligible for competition.
In the Women's Super Senior Division, applicants must have reached 60 years of age by Tuesday, August 21, 2012 to be eligible for competition.
FORMAT
54-holes of stroke play will determine the Champion. Each championship will be divided into two divisions (Open and Super Senior) and contested on Pinehurst No.4, No.5, and No. 8.
A full field for both men's divisions will be 90 players each, while the women's open division will be limited to approximately 60 players and the women's super senior division approximately 30 contestants.
ENTRY PROCESS
All entries, including returned invitations, must be received by the entry deadline of 5:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time on Tuesday, July 24, 2012. Submitted applications must be accompanied by entry fee. ABSOLUTELY NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED.
ACCEPTANCE
All completely executed applications must be received no later than 5:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time Tuesday, July 24, 2012. No entries will be accepted incomplete or after the deadline. The final field will be determined and confirmations or regrets sent to applicants via U.S. Mail. Submission of application does not in itself mean acceptance. Please make checks out to Pinehurst, LLC.
During the application process, applications received will be posted on the Championship website. Names posted at this location designate only applications received and do not guarantee acceptance. Those applications not accepted will be sent letters of regret. Application fees returned with letters of regret for those paying by check.
WITHDRAWALS AND REFUNDS
Any withdrawals after entries close up to and including August 14, 2012 will be issued a refund minus a $30 processing fee. Withdrawals after August 14, 2012 will not receive a refund except in cases of extenuating circumstances, which will be handled on a case-by-case basis. All refunds are at the discretion of the Championship Committee.
Entries are subject to rejection at any time, including during the Championship. The reason for rejection may include unbecoming conduct by contestants or parent/guardian.
CHAMPIONSHIP REGISTRATION
Contestants invited to participate in the Championship must register on Monday, August 20, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time at the Championship Registration Desk located in the St. Andrews Room of the Resort Club. All contestants must register in person. Please make every effort to register prior to playing practice rounds. **Failure to register without notification to the Tournament Office may result in the player forfeiting their spot in the event.**
PRACTICE ROUNDS / RANGE USAGE
The official practice round for the Championship is Monday, August 20. For practice round starting times, please contact the Pinehurst Starting Tower at 1.800.795.4653 (choose option 6) on or after Wednesday, August 15, between 10:00 AM-11:00AM. Indicate you are a North & South contestant. Contestants may make one tee time at that time. Practice rounds are for contestants only. A limited number of additional practice round times may be available on each course, late afternoon, Sunday, August 19. Advance starting times will be available and can be made at the same time as the official practice rounds. (Practice rounds may be booked through the main golf shop after 11:00 AM each day starting August 15, by calling 910-235-8152)
CLUB STORAGE
Club storage is available and complimentary for all contestants during the Championship. All bags should be clearly tagged with the player's North & South bag tag (issued at registration).
PLAYER DINNER
There will be a North & South Contestant Dinner in the Members Club on Monday, August 20, from 6:30 to 8:30 PM. ALL PLAYERS ARE EXPECTED TO ATTEND. Guests are welcome and you may purchase guest tickets at contestant registration. Please do not send money for guest tickets in advance. Business attire (coat OR tie) is requested for men, with corresponding business attire (dress, skirt or dress slacks) requested for women (no shorts or jeans).
CADDIES / CARTS
Players may walk, take a cart, or take a caddie for each round. There will be a limit of two carts per group. Cart fees are $34.00 inclusive per person. Caddie fees are $50 per bag plus gratuity. To reserve a caddie, please contact the Caddie master at 910.235.8149.
