Format
The Donald Ross Junior Championship consists of 36-holes of stroke play in three age groups. Boys ages 15 - 17 compete on Pinehurst No. 8 while boys ages 12 - 14 and 11 and under compete on Pinehurst No. 5. Both rounds begin with shotgun starts each day.
Following the Championship is an optional Father/Son Event. Juniors must play in the Championship to be eligible for the Father/Son Event. The format of the Father/Son Event is alternate shot with selected drive. Age groups remain the same as the Junior Championship, with play contested at Pinehurst No. 4. If there are more than three (3) golf professional/son teams in each division, professional divisions will be formed. Play is aided by the use of golf carts. Father/Son teams are limited to fathers and sons.
Championship Registration
Championship Registration will be held on Wednesday, December 26th from 10:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. in the St Andrews Room at the Pinehurst Resort Club. All contestants must register in person during this time. If word is not received in the Pinehurst Tournament Office by 5:00p.m. on December 26th, the penalty is disqualification.
Practice Rounds and Range Usage
Complimentary practice rounds on Courses No. 5 and No. 8 will be available on Wednesday, December 26th, 2007. Practice rounds are for contestants only. Practice round times may be made on Friday, December 21, 2007 after 10:00 a.m. by calling the Pinehurst Starting Tower at 910.295.3186 or 800.795.4653 option 6. Please indicate that you are a contestant in the Donald Ross Junior Championship. For practice rounds on days other than the official practice round day, please contact the Pinehurst Golf Shop after 4 p.m. the day before you wish to play at 910.235.8152. The rate for additional practice rounds for contestants will be $65.00 per round. Range Usage: Practice balls will be complimentary prior to and following practice rounds and Championship Rounds. Practice balls will be available prior to play ONLY at Pinehurst No.8.
Carts/Caddies
Carts and caddies are prohibited during play. ALL contestants are required to walk and carry their own bag. Pull carts are also prohibited.
For the Father/Son Event, carts are provided, and should be driven by the father.
Spectator Carts: Spectator carts will be prohibited during play. The staff will make every attempt to assist handicapped individuals. Exceptions will be made ONLY for those recognized under the Americans with Disabilities Act or with proper medical documentation.
Club Storage
Club Storage is available and complimentary for all contestants during the Championship. Players are asked to attach their Championship bag tag for identification purposes.
Dress Code
Pinehurst Resort and The Donald Ross Junior Championship Committee require collared shirts be worn at all times during the Championship, including practice rounds, Championship rounds, and the Father/Son.
