Eligibility and Conditions of Competition

Eligibility
Eligibility is through invitation and application only. The Committee reserves the right to invite amateurs of national and international reputation to participate. Any and all additional entries received by the entry deadline are reviewed by the committee and considered according to National Ranking, Competitive Record and accomplishments in Major Tournaments. All applicants must be born male and conform with the "USGA Rules of Amateur Status".

Conditions
Field: The field for the 36-hole qualifier will consist of a maximum of 156 contestants. The defending Champion is exempt from qualifying. Sixty-three contestants will be determined through the 36-hole qualifier to complete the 64-player match play field.

Schedule: The practice round and qualifying rounds will be contested on Pinehurst No. 2 and No. 4. Match play will begin on Wednesday, July 2 on Pinehurst No. 2. Matches are scheduled for 18 holes except for the 36-hole final match. 

Rules for Play: The Stroke Play and Match Play rounds shall be played in accordance with the USGA Rules of Golf and the Local Rules as defined by the North & South Championship Committee.  Unbecoming conduct by a player may result in disqualification.

Carts/Caddies: Contestants have the option to take a caddie, cart, or carry their bag during the practice round and qualifying rounds. Cart fees will be $30.00 plus tax per person per round. Caddies are available by calling the Caddie Master at 910-235-8149. Caddie fees are $50.00 per round plus gratuity.  For the semifinal and 36-hole final, contestants must take a caddie. Carts are prohibited for all match play rounds. Personal caddies are welcome for all rounds of the Championship. Contestants must contact the Caddie Master if making use of a personal caddie prior to arrival in Pinehurst. It is mandatory for personal caddies to pay a refundable deposit for an official North & South caddie bib. The deposit for uniforms is $40.00.

Dress Code: Pinehurst Resort and the North & South Championship Committee require collared shirts be worn at all times during the Championship, including practice rounds, qualifying rounds and during match play. Shorts are permissible for both contestant and caddie but must be Bermuda length. Business attire (coat, no tie) is requested for the Contestant Dinner.

Acceptance
The final field will be determined on Friday, May 23, 2008. At this time confirmations and regrets will be sent to applicants via U.S. Mail. Submission of application does not in itself mean acceptance. Acceptance is confirmed at the time of receipt of confirmation. During the application process, applications received will be posted on the Championship website. Names posted at this location designate only applications received and do not guarantee acceptance.
