Eligibility and Conditions of Competition

Eligibility
Eligibility is through invitation and application only. The Committee reserves the right to invite amateurs of national and international reputation to participate. Any and all additional entries received by the entry deadline are reviewed by the committee and considered according to National Ranking, Competitive Record and accomplishments in Major Tournaments. All applicants must conform with the "USGA Rules of Amateur Status".

In the Open Division, applicants must have reached 55 years of age by Tuesday, June 17, 2008 to be eligible for competition.  All applicants must be born male with a handicap index of 8.4 or less. 

In the Super Senior Division, applicants must have reached 65 years of age by Tuesday, June 17, 2008 to be eligible for competition.  All applicants must be born male with a handicap index 10.4 or less. 

In the Women's Division, applicants must have reached 50 years of age by Tuesday, June 17, 2008 to be eligible for competition.  All applicants must be born female.

Conditions
Field: Senior Men: The Championship will be a 54-hole stroke play event, divided into two divisions, contested on Pinehurst No. 2, No. 5, and No. 8. The Open Division field will consist of approximately 90 players. The Super Senior Division field will consist of approximately 45 players.  Senior Women:  The Championship will be a 54-hole stroke play event contested on Pinehurst No. 2, No. 5, and No. 8.  The Senior Women's field will consist of approximately 45 players. 

Rules for Play: The Championship Rounds shall be played in accordance with the USGA Rules of Golf and the Local Rules as defined by the North & South Championship Committee.  Unbecoming conduct by a player may result in disqualification. 

Carts and Caddies: Players may walk, take a cart, or caddie for each round with the exception of Pinehurst No.2, in which a cart or caddie must be used.  Cart fees are $30.00 plus tax per person. Caddie fees are $50 per bag plus gratuity.  There will be a limit of two carts per group. 

Dress Code: Pinehurst Resort and the North & South Championship Committee require collared shirts be worn at all times during the Championship, including practice rounds and Championship rounds. Shorts are permissible for both contestant and caddie but must be Bermuda length. Business attire (coat, no tie) for men and the equivalent for women is requested for the Contestant Dinner.

Acceptance
The final field will be determined on Friday, May 9, 2008. At this time confirmations and regrets will be sent to applicants via U.S. Mail. Submission of application does not in itself mean acceptance. Acceptance is confirmed at the time of receipt of confirmation. During the application process, applications received will be posted on the Championship website. Names posted at this location designate only applications received and do not guarantee acceptance.
