ROOMS RENOVATION, PRESIDENTIAL SUITE, GOLF UPGRADES READY FOR PINEHURST THIS SPRING

VILLAGE OF PINEHURST, N.C. (March 18, 2008)

Pinehurst, preparing for the return of the U.S. Amateur Championship in 2008, has planned and completed a series of upgrades and renovation to its 2,000-acre campus this spring.

Among them is completion of its Carolina hotel guest rooms, a tri-phased project that began in 2005. The $10 million renovations include the addition of flat screen televisions, marble-tiled bathrooms with deluge shower heads, ultra-plush bedding and expanded desk space in its most sought-after accommodations.

Phase IIII includes 63 rooms in the Carolina, originally opened in 1901 and a National Historic Landmark. It will be complete by April 10. The Carolina will also upgrade the corridors on guest room floors this winter, to coincide with completion of the rooms renovation project.

An opulent 1,700-square foot Presidential Suite is also scheduled to open in the Carolina hotel's West Wing in late summer. With a private entrance to the hotel's wide veranda and West Lawn, the plush set of rooms will include a private dining room, living area with two large-screen televisions, wetbar, fireplace, study, luxurious bath with marble shower and soaking tub, and premium bedding.

The Presidential Suite will have direct access to the Carolina's new West Wing meeting rooms that opened this month. The 3,000-sq. ft space includes three function rooms that can be used for executive board rooms, break out space, or private dinners. Two doorways will open to the wide verandas and West Lawn, perfect for indoor/outdoor gatherings.

All 42 rooms of the lodge-like Manor Inn have also be renovated at Pinehurst. Upgraded bedding, flat screen televisions, tile bathrooms, interior design and upgraded workspace areas comprise the building's new offerings.

On the golf side, the Pinehurst No. 1 course has completed its nine-month renovation to rave reviews. The $1.7 million project included fairway reconstruction using the 419 Bermuda grass strain, laser leveled tee boxes, new sand in all bunkers, and USGA specification greens. A traditional course, No. 1 is popular with Pinehurst Country Club members and groups alike.

The famed Pinehurst No. 2 and No. 4 will receive championship treatment in 2008 as they prepare to host the USGA for the 2008 U.S. Amateur, August 18-24. With a longstanding tradition of stellar golf events at the resort, expect Pinehurst to be at the top of its game throughout the year. The resort was also recently selected to host the 2014 U.S. Open, the third time in an unprecedented 15 years that the national golf championship has been held there.

For those that wish to indulge in one of life's simple pleasures, the Spa at Pinehurst now offers a Hot Stone Pedicure among its varied offerings, as well as group aromatherapy and Relaxing Registration chair massages.

Pinehurst.com will also be updated this winter with new video tours of the entire property, including golf commentary by XM Radio sports personality Peter Kessler and Pinehurst caddies.

On the slate for 2009 will be the renovation of Carolina East Wing Rooms and renovation of the Holly Inn's guest rooms, completing a grand total of $12 million invested in guest accommodations since late 2005.
