Eligibility and Conditions of Competition

ELIGIBILITY
Eligibility is through invitation and application only. The Committee reserves the right to invite amateurs of national and international reputation to participate. Any and all additional entries received by the entry deadline are reviewed by the committee and considered according to national ranking, competitive record and accomplishments in major tournaments.  All applicants must be born female and conform with "USGA Rules of Amateur Status".

CONDITIONS
Field: Six rounds of match play will determine the Champion.  The top 30 ranked accepted invites and applicants will be exempt into match play.   Those players exempt from qualifying will take match play seeds 1 through 30 based on their ranking.  The remaining thirty-four seeds will be determined through the 18-hole qualifier to complete the 64-player match play field.  All play will be on Pinehurst No. 2.  the field for the 18-hole qualifier will consist of a maximum of 94 contestants.

Schedule: The practice round and qualifying rounds will be contested on Pinehurst No. 2 and No. 8. Match play will begin on Wednesday, July 15 on Pinehurst No. 2. Matches are scheduled for 18 holes except for the 36-hole final match.

Rules for Play: The Stroke Play and Match Play rounds shall be played in accordance with the USGA Rules of Golf and the Local Rules as defined by the North & South Championship Committee.  Unbecoming conduct by a player may result in disqualification.

Carts/Caddies: During the qualifying round, contestants may carry their bag, take a caddie, or take a cart.  Cart fees are $33.00 inclusive per person.  Caddie fees are $50.00 per round plus gratuity ($25.00+ suggested, depending on service).  To reserve a caddie, please contact the Caddie Master at 910.235.8149.  You may also bring a personal caddie.  All caddies not affiliated with Caddie Master Enterprises must register with the Caddie Master by Monday, June 29.  There will be a mandatory $40.00 refundable uniform deposit for all personal caddies.  Caddies are required for the semifinal and final rounds of match play.

Dress Code: Pinehurst Resort and the North & South Championship Committee require collared shirts be worn at all times during the Championship, including practice rounds, qualifying rounds and during match play. Shorts are permissible for both contestant and caddie but must be Bermuda length. Dressy casual attire is requested for the Contestant Dinner.

ACCEPTANCE
The final field will be determined on Friday, June 5, 2009, after 5:00 PM.  At this time confirmations and regrets will be sent to applicants via U.S. Mail. Submission of application does not in itself mean acceptance.  During the application process, applications received will be posted on the Championship website.  Names posted at this location designate only applications received and do not guarantee acceptance.
