It is New Year’s Eve, 1895. The Holly Inn, Pinehurst’s first modern hotel, complete with electric lights, steam heat and a call bell in every room, is ready to welcome its first guests. In one hour, the trolley will stop directly at The Holly’s front door, where 20 guests paying $3 a night are planning to ring in the New Year in the quaint Village’s luxurious new hotel.
There’s just one problem. You, the manager, have misplaced the key to unlock Th e Holly. You’re certain it is somewhere in this room. But the clock is ticking, and there are only 60 minutes left before guests arrive. Will The Holly’s opening chart a new era in the North Carolina Sandhills? Or will the first night be a disaster, sure to be recounted in the Pinehurst Outlook newspaper for decades to come?
Pinehurst’s history, as we know it, rests on your shoulders!
