Celebrating Groundhog Day with Bill Murray and golf

If you’ve ever seen the 1993 film “Groundhog Day,” you likely can’t get through Feb. 2 without thinking of Bill Murray.

Of course, before “Groundhog Day,” Murray chased a gopher in “Caddyshack.”

The film made the comedian synonymous with the game of golf, yet some may be surprised to learn Murray actually worked as a caddie before he got into show business.

Last year, Murray talked to broadcaster Ahmad Rashad about his days as a caddie.

Our favorite line: “We didn’t have cows to milk, so you had to go caddie.”

Fans of Murray (and golf) will also enjoy this short clip of his take on the game.

Murray frequently plays golf, so it was no surprise when Golf Magazine celebrated his birthday with the “50 Greatest Bill Murray Golf Photos.

This photo is one of our favorite. You can browse the entire gallery by clicking the image.
