We know, 2014 is SO yesterday. But you have to admit it was a great year.
When we asked our followers to share their favorite Pinehurst memories, they proved us right. In fact, we were flooded with awesome stories. We’ve compiled a few of the best ones for you to enjoy.
Cheers to another year of family, friends, food and GOLF.
“I was there 3 times this year. Celebrated New Year’s Eve at the Carolina Hotel, played golf on No. 2 New Year’s Day, came down in October with the family. But my favorite trip was bringing my oldest daughter down for the Women’s Open. Great memories for her and me.”
— Brian Cook
“Had dinner at the Carolina Dining Room with my daughters, Melissa Pocock and Sarah Lyn Patterson, just before Christmas…perfect!”
— Betsy Homa
“Parring the first four holes on No. 4.”
— Howard Munck
“Being a grandstand area captain for both Opens. Hard work, long, dirty days but what a thrill to have this historic event in my own backyard!”
— Tricia Fagan Williamson
“Playing No. 2 with Terry Heyl, his daughter and son in law.”
— Dave Langley
(Editor’s note: There’s a great story behind this one. Dave and Terry were roommates during the Vietnam War. They reconnected through a Pinehurst Facebook post and met up for the first time in more than 40 years. Read their story here.)
“Playing Pinehurst No. 8, great and challenging course!”
— Conor Byrne
“Playing in the last group on the final day of the Senior North & South Amateur Championship.”
— Dave Prokop
There were many #2014Memories for me but if have to say a top one was going to the U.S. Open in Pinehurst this summer. I made personal history by going to my first ever U.S. Open and pro golf event while witnessing history when Martin Kaymer won his first ever Open on Championship Sunday. I was also able to get a couple autographs, including one from @MattFitz94 who was the ONLY amateur to make the 36-hole cut in the tournament! The best part about it all was I was able to share this experience with my 87-year-old grandmother. I’ll never forget this! #usopen #pga #golf #2014 #pinehurst
