Pinehurst Top 10 in 2017 – No. 9: The Deuce is Named Best New Restaurant in Golf

Editor’s Note: Over the next two weeks as the year comes to a close, Pinehurst will reveal its Top 10 Stories from 2017. We’ll have one recap a day with links to the original stories if you would like to reflect more. We appreciate your engagement with each of these stories and several others from throughout the year, and we look forward to making more news in 2018.

And since we like numbers at Pinehurst, that’s exactly how we’ll count these down:

No. 10: Pinehurst No. 3 Brings It All Back – Charm, Strategy…and Wire Grass

No. 9: The Deuce is named Best New Restaurant in Golf

It didn’t take long.

Less than six months after the Deuce opened its doors – and its 10-foot open-air windows out to the veranda and the 18th of Pinehurst No. 2 – Pinehurst’s newest pub was drawing raves from around the golf industry.

That point hit home in the February issue of Golf, Inc. magazine, which awarded its annual Golden Fork awards for the best dining options in all of golf. The Deuce was named the “Best New Restaurant in Golf”.

While the Deuce didn’t open with the idea to try to win awards, it did set out to stand apart, both with its menu and drink selections.

“It’s not your typical bar food,” says Pinehurst Resort Executive Chef Thierry Debailleul. “It’s fresh, innovative and original food, and it all comes with a spectacular view. It’s made-from-scratch cuisine in a relaxed, comfortable setting that we feel will become the best lunch spot you can imagine anywhere.”

Oh yes, the view. That’s not bad, either.
