Our Top 10 Tweets of 2014

We learned a few things when we started looking at our top tweets of 2014.

First, you all were REALLY excited about the back-to-back U.S. Open championships. Our tweets leading up to historic event were some of the most popular of the year and the tweets sent out during the tournaments went viral with hundreds of retweets and favorites.

Rickie Fowler’s fashion tribute to golf great Payne Stewart spread like wildfire on social media, becoming one of the most talked about moments of 2014.

Another lesson: Scotty McCreery has awesome fans. When the American Idol winner played Pinehurst No. 2 for the first time back in April, his loyal followers flocked to our blog to see what the singer thought about the Donald Ross course. Oh, and he sang a few bars.

Golf’s leading ladies also got plenty of love on our Twitter feed this year. It seemed any tweet mentioning tween Lucy Li turned to gold and Michelle Wie became a newsmaker when she won her first major title at Pinehurst.
