  • Acura Hospitality Car Program
    Take an RL, TL, MDX or RDX for up to three hours to see the area. (9 am – 6 pm; must have US/CN drivers license).
  • Antiquing
    A wealth of independent shops within 15 minutes of the resort abound; nearby Cameron Antiques features over 20 shops in a quaint town atmosphere.
  • Afternoon Tea
    Join us for a social hour of tea and cookies every day at 4 pm in the Carolina Hotel lobby.
  • Batting Cages
    Located at Mini Pines Family Center in Southern Pines, batting cages are open in the summer months.
  • Bicycles
    Pinehurst guests can access a riding bike at the front of the Carolina hotel.
  • Board Games
    Checkers and chess boards are located in the lobbies of the Carolina Hotel, Manor Inn and Holly Inn.
  • Boat Rentals, including kayaking, canoeing and paddle boating
    The Pinehurst Beach Club rents boats on the 200-acre Lake Pinehurst, as well as bait and tackle.
  • Bowling
    The Sandhills Bowling Center is located approximately five miles from Pinehurst, offering open bowl times and family-friendly lanes.
  • Carriage Rides
    Enjoy a horse-driven carriage through the historic Village of Pinehurst with guide. Half-hour and full-hour tours available.
  • Croquet
    Take a lesson from the Pinehurst pros and arrange a match with members of the Pinehurst Croquet Club. 48-hour advance reservations required.
  • Daily Family Craft Time
    Join us every Monday-Saturday at 2 pm in the summer months at the West Lawn pool.
  • DiscoverGolf Program
    This full-day program, offered seasonally, includes beginner instruction, lunch and play on a Pinehurst course. Advance reservations required.
  • Equestrian
    Nearby McLendon Hills offers trail rides, pony rides and lessons seasonally. Requires advance reservations.
  • Family Challenge
    Pick up your brochure at the Resort Services desk for scavenger hunts, games and activities you can do on your own as a family throughout Pinehurst. Win prizes when you take on the challenge to do as much as you can. Available during the summer months.

  • Family Fairways
    Offered Memorial Day to Labor Day and most holidays, the program offers two options for families to play together: Option 1 includes a family clinic and golf on No. 8 after 5 pm; Option 2 offers golf only after 5 pm for up to a family of four. Requires 48-hours advance reservations. Rental Clubs available on this program at no additional charge.
  • Family Fun on Fridays
    Every Friday in the summer, Pinehurst offers family activities at 7:30 pm. Sign up in advance at the Resort Services Desk for such activities as Flag Football, Beach Blanket Bingo, GPS Scavenger Hunts, and S’mores parties.
  • Fishing
    Lake Pinehurst is a 200-acre freshwater lake stocked with carp, bass and catfish. Bait, tackle and fishing boat rentals are available at the Pinehurst Beach Club. Open May – September.
  • Fitness Center
    Offering treadmills, free weights, and other equipment, the Pinehurst Fitness Center is available to all resort guests free of charge and is located at the Spa at Pinehurst. Opening/Closing times vary by season.
  • Gem & Gold Panning
    Find hidden treasures at Jims, Gems and Gold, located in nearby Aberdeen. Open year-round Wednesday-Sunday.
  • Golf
    Pinehurst offers 8 golf courses, from the short beginner-friendly Nos. 1 and 3 to the championship No. 2. Lessons, custom club fitting, golf schools, and practice facilities are also available.
  • Greenways/Walking/Jogging Trails
    Both Pinehurst and Southern Pines have extensive Greenway systems for walking, jogging or biking. Start at the Manor Inn in Pinehurst and view native plants; Southern Pines offers a walk around the picturesque Southern Pines Reservoir. Ask resort services for other popular walking and jogging routes and maps.
  • Hayrides
    Available by request, a minimum of four people can request a Hayride through the Pinehurst property.
  • Hiking in Nature Preserve
    The Weymouth Center is located about 15 minutes from Pinehurst and includes native bird and wildlife habitats as well as native herbs and plants.
  • Historic Sites
    The Malcolm Blue Farm offers seasonal tours of its Revolutionary War homesite; House on the Horseshoe is approximately 25 minutes away and has annual Revolutionary War re-enactments.
  • Historic Walking Tours
    Offered each Monday and Wednesday mornings at 10 am in the summer months, this one-hour walking tour takes you through the historic district of the Village of Pinehurst. Wear comfortable shoes.
  • Horticultural Gardens
    Take a walk through the Sandhills Horticultural Gardens, located at Sandhills Community College in Southern Pines. Seasonal floral displays, herb gardens, English pathways and Japanese Hollies are among the many sections of this expansive walking garden. Open seasonally.
  • Indoor Rock Climbing
    Redpoint Climbing Jym, located one hour away from Pinehurst in Fayetteville, offers over 8,000 sq. ft. of indoor climbing space.
  • Kayaking
    Kayaks can be rented at the Pinehurst Beach Club/Lake Pinehurst by the hour. Open seasonally May through September.
  • KidsClub
    The Pinehurst KidsClub is open Monday-Saturday in the summer months and select family holiday weekends, offering supervised activities for children ages 3-12. Must be potty trained. Half-day and full-day programs available. See Oakley Teen Adventure for weekend activities for ages 13-17.
  • KidSpa
    Children ages 6-11 can enjoy such services as Fancy Fingers, Twinkle Toes, Facials and Massages. Requires an adult supervisor for all closed door treatments. Reservations required.
  • Lawnbowling
    Take a lesson or play a game with our Pinehurst Lawnbowling team. Equipment is available.
  • Live Theater
    The Sunrise Theater in Southern Pines offers year-round musical performances, plays, independent films and shows. Call ahead for tickets and schedule.
  • Miniature Golf
    Mini Pines is located in Southern Pines and includes an 18-hole, par 64 miniature golf course. Only open in the summer months.
  • Movies
    Frank Family Theaters has stadium seating and the latest blockbusters. Located approximately 5 miles from Pinehurst.
  • Museums
    The Tufts Archives is located in the Historic Village of Pinehurst, within walking distance, and contains over 100 years of Pinehurst history. The Airborne Museum at Ft. Bragg in Southern Pines includes displays of the escapades of the historic 82nd Airborne division of the Army.
  • Nature Walks
    A variety of nature trails, greenways, and natural preserves exist through the Moore County region, as well as regional parks. Ask Resort Services for locations and maps.
  • Oakley’s Teen Adventure Program
    Available for teens ages 13-17 on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays in Summer, these afternoon activities include kayaking, geocaching, scavenger hunts, and more. Requires advance reservations.
  • NC Zoo
    Explore over 500 acres of exhibits that include a giraffe feeding station, polar bears and more at the North Carolina Zoo. Located approximately 40 minutes away in nearby Asheboro, the zoo is open year-round.
  • Paint your own Pottery
    In addition to our family summer activities, there are two Paint your own Pottery shops in downtown Southern Pines.
  • Playground
    The Pinehurst Resort playground is located on the West Lawn adjacent to the Carolina Hotel.
  • Pools
    Pinehurst guests can enjoy two outdoors pools, open May-November. The main pool is located at the West Lawn adjacent to the Carolina hotel and includes changing rooms, snack bar, whirlpool, kiddie pool, misting pool and outdoor fireplace. The Holly Inn pool is a quiet, smaller enclave.
  • Seagrove Pottery Area
    Located about 45 minutes from Pinehurst, Seagrove is internationally known for multigenerational potters who create both functional pieces and acclaimed works of art.
  • Shopping
    The Village of Pinehurst and downtown Southern Pines include charming independently owned boutiques that range from home goods to apparel, artwork to books and more. Local department stores, grocery and drug stores are located less than 5 miles from the resort.
  • Skydiving
    If you love a good thrill, experience the excitement of Skydiving at the Raeford Parachute Center, which includes instruction, complete equipment, tandem master, and the actual skydive.
  • Southern High Tea
    In addition to our Tour and Tea offered every 2nd Friday, a tea parlour offering lite to high tea is located in the historic Village of Pinehurst.
  • Spa
    Enjoy massage, facials, skin treatments and tranquility at the Mobil Four-Star rated Spa at Pinehurst. Reservations required – call 910.235.8320.
  • Sporting Clays
    Deep River Sporting Clays is located 35 miles north of Pinehurst, and is situated on 65 acres of woodlands.
  • Sports Fields/Equipment
    Both the Village of Pinehurst and Town of Southern Pines include area soccer, baseball and sports fields, including the Pinehurst inline outdoor skating park within walking distance of the resort. For those who wish to stay on property, soccer balls and limited sports equipment is available; golf clubs, tennis, croquet and lawnbowling equipment is available for rental as well.
  • Swimming
    Whether in our outdoor pools or Lake Pinehurst, all ages can enjoy time waterside. Open May-October.
  • Tea and Tour
    Every second Friday of the month, Pinehurst offers a historic walking tour through the Village of Pinehurst as well as a traditional Morning tea with your choice of loose tea, homemade scones, strawberries and sweets. Reservations required.
  • TeenSpa
    The Spa at Pinehurst offers a menu of treatments and services for teens ages 12-17, as well as a hip Teen Only lounge. Call 910.235.8320 for details. Adult supervision required for all closed-door treatments.
  • Tennis
    The Pinehurst Tennis campus includes 24 courts, many open for night play. Equipment, lessons, ball machine and pairing service with a Pinehurst Tennis Club member is available.
  • Tufts Archives
    The history of Pinehurst is located in the Given Memorial Library in the historic Village, across the street from the Holly Inn. Take a walk through displays, photos and archives of past events, famous guests and more.
  • Village of Pinehurst
    Created in 1895, the New England-style village is located within walking distance and includes a variety of shops, pubs, ice cream shops and more. A perfect afternoon diversion, located within a National Historic Landmark district.
  • Wind Tunnel
    The closest you’ll come to flying...Paraclete XP SkyVenture’s professional instructors will teach you the fundamentals, and provide your flight equipment. Located in Raeford, N.C., about 30 minutes from Pinehurst.
