FIRST:

There are two ways to take this very first step to having the ideal Pinehurst experience:

  1. Arrive and stop by the front desk to pick up your resort ID and Bag Tags, drop of your luggage then grab the shuttle over to the clubhouse.
  2. Or, if you decided to have the ultimate Pinehurst getaway, you reserved with your buddies one of the luxurious Cottages at No. 8. Whether it is one of the 4-bedroom Cottages or the ultra-lux – and 14,000-square-foot – Centennial Cottage, you are in for a treat at Pinehurst. With a dedicated No. 8 Ambassador waiting on your group’s every need to relaxing balconies, decks and fire pits, the Cottages at No. 8 offer a real trip-of-a-lifetime vibes.

NEXT:

Take on one of Pinehurst’s championship courses, No. 4 or No. 8.

You really can’t go wrong here. If you’re early, take on No. 4. If you’re a Cottage guest, take the option of a twilight round on No. 8. Golden Hour never looked so good.

Gil Hanse’s No. 4 has garnered accolades since his stunning redesign. You’ll want to stop by The Nest, the turn house on Course No. 4. Try the signature drink the Woodpecker and don’t forget to grab a handful of the tees! Pro Tip: With tee times in high demand, stay and play Sunday – Wednesday for greater availability.

That afternoon, take a spin on Thistle Dhu, Pinehurst’s 18-hole putting course that meanders over 75,000 square feet – and around the famed Putter Boy statue. Feeling a little competitive? Grab a Thistle Dhu scorecard and let the games begin! Pro Tip: The Putter Boy statue is a great spot for a group selfie.

THEN:

Enjoy dinner at the srylish Carolina Vista Lounge in the Carolina Hotel for inspired cocktails and a contemporary menu unlike any other at Pinehurst.

Or dine at PL8TE at No. 8 for delicious American and Southern fare with flair.

Finally, find a cozy rocking chair on the back porch at PL8TE or mosey on down to the fire pits to enjoy a drink under the Carolina blue skies recapping day 1.

FIRST:

Play Pinehurst’s newest course, No. 10, at Pinehurst Sandmines, the exclusive destination within the destination that is the Cradle of American Golf. Tom Doak’s masterful No. 10 is a golf experience like no other in the North Carolina Sandhills. Less than a year after opening, No. 10 was hailed as the “Best New Course” of 2024. And it’s only gotten better.

In fact, all of Pinehurst Sandmines keeps getting better.

Pro Tip: As a walking-only course, we recommend booking a caddy in advance.

Before or after your round on No. 10 – or both – enjoy the southwestern grill at Station 21, one of Pinehurst’s newest restaurants that offers an incredible menu and an array of specialty cocktails. Already a favorite of guests and locals alike, Station 21 is just like No. 10 – there’s no other dining experience like it at Pinehurst.

NEXT:

Have a go at The Cradle short course, called “The most fun 10 acres in golf”.

You only need a couple of wedges and a putter to play Gil Hanse’s signature short course. Kick off your shoes, take in the music and enjoy. Stop by the Cradle Crossing for a Cradle Transfusion.

Pro Tip: Book a Golfer’s Massage at the Spa at Pinehurst for the ultimate recovery between rounds.

THEN:

Visit Pinehurst Brewing Co. for smoked BBQ + beer on tap.

Housed in the Village’s historic steam plant building is Pinehurst’s brewery, which features craft beer brewed on-site along with classic North Carolina barbecue and brisket, pizza and more.

Have a nightcap at the North & South Bar at the Manor, just a few steps away from the brewery.

The North & South bar at The Manor features nearly 70 styles of bourbons, whiskeys, ryes and Scotch. Traditional Manhattans and sours are on the menu, but so are new-age stylings on the classics. There’s literally nothing like it anywhere near Pinehurst.

FIRST:

There are 180 holes you can play at Pinehurst. The only question is, which 18 will it be? Explore our courses and finish with a memorable round on legendary greens.

But we all know what’s next, don’t we?

It’s time. Yes, it’s time. You come to Pinehurst for a shot at glory with your friends. And memories to last a lifetime.

You have to try to play Pinehurst No. 2.

The first Anchor Site of the U.S. Open, No. 2 is a timeless classic where all of the game’s greats have played. Four U.S. Opens and a U.S. Women’s have been staged here. So has the Ryder Cup. So has the PGA Championship. Payne Stewart became an iconic figure here, and Bryson DeChambeau etched his name into the game’s lore with one the most dramatic finishes in major championship history. Ben Hogan won here. Walter Hagan won here. Sam Snead won here. Jack Nicklaus won here.

Tiger Woods hasn’t.

But you can.

And when you get your “2 on 2,” make sure to bring the scorecard to the Deuce to receive your special commemorative Deuce coin. Also, feel free to remind your buddies as often as you want that you have one and they don’t…

NEXT:

Enjoy a drink at The Deuce – the best “19th hole” in golf.

Overlooking the 18th green of Pinehurst No. 2, The Deuce’s open-air windows allow the soundtrack of groups finishing their rounds to complement the local beers, cocktails and delicious pub fare.

For a little fun after your U.S. Open experience, go back to where it all began: Course No. 1. With an authentic Donald Ross design and ample birdie opportunities, challenge your buddies to a scramble for a great afternoon.

THEN:

Snap a photo with a champion.

A few yards from where he became the 1999 U.S. Open Champion, Payne Stewart’s statue serves as a tribute to his spirit. A trip to Pinehurst isn’t complete without an attempt to recreate his epic fist-pump stance.

Once April 29 rolls around, we recommend you finishing your day fully celebrating the Carolinas. Enjoy a meal at our newest restaurant, Wiregrass, located in the historic clubhouse. Wiregrass is farm-to-table and is a refined and welcoming dinner spot, designed to elevate gatherings through a strong sense of place and purpose. The concept celebrates the bounty of North Carolina by highlighting locally sourced ingredients and seasonal preparations that reflect the region’s agricultural heritage. Together, the food and beverage offerings at Wiregrass create an experience that feels grounded in both the landscape and the ingredients.

FIRST:

Enjoy your final taste of the breakfast buffet before packing up and checking out.

NEXT:

Complete your weekend with a final round on one of 10 world-class courses.

If you want a fun and carefree round, take on Pinehurst No. 3. Don’t let the scorecard fool you, though. At just 5,100 yards, you might think this classic with Donald Ross signature moments is a pushover. It is not. With a wide variety of par 3s and varied par 4s – want to drive a green or two? – golfers have called No. 3 a “Mini No. 2” with its devilish crowned greens and native sandscape.

Or return to Course No. 8, our centennial course, which brings all of the elements that make golf at Pinehurst unmistakable into one 18-hole layout, Fazio fashioned a course that’s at once stunning and simple, and equal parts challenge and celebration. Pro-tip: Use the locker rooms for a quick shower to prepare for your departure.

THEN:

PL8TE remains is the perfect place to grab lunch. Eat on the veranda to enjoy a peaceful view as you bid Pinehurst farewell… until next time!
