It has been just over a year since Gil Hanse’s redesign of Pinehurst No. 4 reopened.

And it’s been quite a year.

No. 4 opened to rave reviews, with GOLF Magazine leading the way, naming No. 4 the “Best New Course You Can Play.” That came just weeks after the first players were able to see Hanse’s handiwork.

Since late September 2018, nearly 40,000 rounds have been played on No. 4. And in just 11 months after opening, No. 4 made significant golf history when it hosted the first 18 holes of the championship match of the 2019 U.S. Amateur in August.

In the above video, Hanse explains some of the unique features on three of the most dramatic, challenging and eye-catching holes on No. 4. Take a look, and then we hope to see you in Pinehurst soon.
