Kelly Mitchum’s Cradle Solstice event returns on the shortest day* of the year, the Winter Solstice on Saturday.

*Playing our shortest course on the shortest day. Get it? Yeah, we figured.

Last year’s event, which featured 10 players and a total of 2,025 holes played, raised just over $20,000 for local charities and organizations.

On Saturday, 15 players will participate on Pinehurst’s short course, The Cradle, playing for the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina, PGA Hope, a program that introduces golf to veterans with disabilities to enhance their physical, mental, social and emotional well-being, and Young Life of the Sandhills.

The players will hit their first tee shots on The Cradle at sunrise at 7:21 a.m. They will finish right at sunset at 5:09 p.m.

If you would like to contribute to the players, you can do so here. Already, more than $4,000 has been raised before the first tee shot.

The public is encouraged to come out and watch play any time of day on Saturday.
